Wild Pigeons Numerous in the Neighborhood

Wild Pigeons are now very numerous in this neighborhood, and fall in phalanxes, daily, before the ready shot and unerring aim of our marksmen. Food elsewhere is doubtless scarce, and the instinct of the pigeons leads them to the 'land of plenty.' Even the Bears of the forest seem to know something of the character of Jefferson lands.
